You join the programme, and once you are approved Amazon issues a partner tag that marks your referrals; when an eligible sale goes through, it credits that tag. We build every link on your site with your tag, but the account, the payouts, and the relationship with Amazon stay entirely yours. The part worth being clear about: commission only exists on a real, completed purchase. Not a click, not an add-to-basket, an actual sale, paid at whatever rate Amazon has set for that category.
